The Spiritualization of Mental Illnesses

The "spiritualization" of events in this part of the world is a leading hindrance to health care development.
Psychiatry is one specialty that has suffered much from it. Anybody presenting with irrational talk, from any cause, is quickly tagged as witch or wizard. Quite unfortunate, because it is well established that numerous things can cause irrational talk - hypoglycaemia, even untreated Urinary tract infection.
Worse still, let it be an elderly person. The people gather and lynch them before even ascertaining whether they have any health condition triggering such manifestation.
People will start asking "what do you know about the death of this and that". Abeg, what do you expect a delirious person to say? They'll probably reply in affirmative and next thing - lynch the witch!
We need to start acting on the level of civilization we claim to have.
Mental illnesses are not as a result of "wickedness" or failed attempt at blood money and Irrational talk is not "confession of a witch"

These illnesses have explainable (and treatable) causes just like Mosquitoes cause malaria.
See ba? spirituality is real (as religions teach it). man is made up of 3 components:
1. Physical
2. Emotional
3. Spiritual

We blame 99% of our health issues on Spiritual causes. When, actually, physical and emotional causes are responsible for the 99%.
Most of those "confession" gists are just unlucky old people having old people's problems.
Please encourage and help mentally ill people to seek medical help.
Help stop the "spiritualization" of mental illnesses.
